Measurement of Dentulous Freeway Space (Optional)

For subsequent vertical dimension adjustment, the software provides an optional function to measure the freeway space for dentulous patients.

Steps:

1. Place a marker on the pronasale (Prn) and the pogonion (Pg).

2. Instruct the patient to adjust their head position and maintain an appropriate distance from the camera. Ensure that both the scanning frame and distance indicator turn green and display “Suitable”. When the facial mid-sagittal plane is nearly parallel to the mid-sagittal line of the scan frame, the two markers will be connected by a green line.

3. Measure the distance in the intercuspal position (ICP):

Keep both jaws fully closed and stable in ICP. Click “Record” to capture the Prn-Pg distance.

Record three sets of data; the software will automatically calculate the average.

If more than three recordings are taken, the average of the latest three values will be used.

4. Click “Next” to proceed to the measurement in the resting vertical dimension (VDR)

The resting jaw position is defined as the natural, upright posture of the patient with the masticatory muscles fully relaxed, lips lightly closed or slightly apart, and teeth not in contact.

Ensure the patient fully relaxes their jaw muscles before each measurement.

Click “Record” and repeat the same measurement procedure in the resting position.

5. Click “Finish”. The software will automatically calculate the freeway space using the formula: FWS = VDR – VDO.
