Reference Adjustment

References should be determined after the mandibular movement tracking. Confirming all anatomical landmarks and planes at this stage not only ensures the accuracy of subsequent design steps but also facilitates more precise diagnosis, measurement, and analysis throughout the digital workflow.

Note:

  • Resetting a step will reset all subsequent steps.
  • If the case contains DICOM data, all references are confirmed based on the DICOM model. Otherwise, intraoral scan and facial models are used.
    • DICOM-Based Reference adjustment

  • Facial Model-Based Reference adjustment

Notes

Hinge Axis

Condylar points are placed automatically

Manually mark the highest point of the mandibular condyle on both sides

 /

Incisal Point

Automatically marked by default

Click the midline of the mandibular incisor edge

 /

Horizontal Plane

Automatically generated parallel to the hinge axis using 3 points: left infraorbital point, left porion, right porion

Automatically generated parallel to the hinge axis using 3 points: left infraorbital point, left cheek point, right cheek point

Plane translation: Hold and drag the arrows up/down to move vertically

Plane skewing: Drag the points up/down to adjust tilt

Median Sagittal Plane

Automatically generated perpendicular to the horizontal plane using: incisal edge point and midpoint of the hinge axis

Automatically generated perpendicular to the horizontal plane using 4 points: soft tissue nasion, nasal tip, nasal base, upper lip prominence

Plane translation: Drag arrows left/right to move horizontally

Plane skewing: Drag points left/right to adjust tilt

Coronal Plane

Automatically generated based on the horizontal and median sagittal planes

Virtual Articulator Parameters

Once all references are confirmed, the following parameters of the Amann Girrbach Articulator will be automatically calculated and displayed:

  • Sagittal Condylar Inclination (Left/Right)
  • Lateral Condylar Inclination (Left/Right)
  • Immediate Side Shift (Left/Right)
  • Lateral Incisal Inclination (Left/Right)
  • Sagittal Incisal Inclination
