Overview
The bite scan can align the maxilla and mandible data, showing the occlusion status. The software provided a simple scan workflow to acquire the bite data. This article mainly introduces the scan strategies for the acquisition of bite data.
How to acquire the bite data?
STEP 1: Acquire the maxilla and mandible data
STEP 2: Scan Bite
Normal patients
Users need to scan the last 4-6 molars (maxilla and mandible) on both sides to get alignment of the maxilla and mandible.
First, let the patient relax and open their mouth, and users should put the scanner tip on the right side. Next, let the patient bite and start scanning. The maxilla and mandible will automatically align with scanning in a short distance.
Tips: Accurate data
If users only scan one side, there will be a risk of mismatching of jaws. Please let the patient keep MIP in occlusion to acquire accurate and according bite data because the software calculates the average from the bite data.
Edentulous patients
Please determine a certain occlusion height by cotton rolls or putty in advance. Scan the bite by using the determined height. Please refer to the solution article: Pre-op Scan & Bite Registration.
Quadrant models
For quadrant models, users should scan the last molars on one side and the anterior teeth. Please click the plus button to add a new group of anterior bite data.
Tips: Bouncing
If users enable the automatic bite optimization function in Settings, the maxilla and mandible will bounce to a proper position to avoid the bite cross. For more details, please refer to the solution article: Automatic Bite Optimization.
Next, users should repeat the operation on the left side.
Tips: Dynamic bite scan
