Overview
In order to improve the data quality of the scan body, the software provides a workflow with dynamic alignment. The prepared scan body data can be dynamically aligned with the scan data. Users can select the scan body data in our database or import their data. This guide aims to explain the basic workflow in implant cases.
How to scan an implant case?
STEP 1: Create an order
Please refer to the previous article: Create Orders.
Select the implant dentistry type, and select the teeth position where the scan bodies are placed. Users can also choose the implant base. Here we used an implant gypsum model whose 24th and 26th teeth are implanted.
STEP 2: Scan the maxilla without scan bodies
Scan the maxilla data without scan bodies, and delete all unnecessary data.
It is vital to collect clear data on implant areas and their interproximal regions because the data is helpful in the following alignment procedures. Enabling the data indicator or mask features can help users collect data. Please refer to the previous articles: Additional Functions.
Click “Finish” to go to the next step.
STEP 3: Dig holes of the cuff
A hollow blue circle will follow the cursor. Scale and rotate to an appropriate view and double-click to remove the data of implant areas. Do not remove the interproximal teeth.
Tips: Cuff and soft tissues
You can dig several holes to ensure that the holes are so tremendous that the cuff data has been removed clearly. If not, the soft tissues will be deformed due to the pressure of the installation of scan bodies, causing difficulty or even a failure of alignment.
Click “Finish” to go to the next step.
STEP 4: Match scan bodies
Click “Scan body matching” to enter the interface of matching. Here, users need to match the implant area with the scan body. Select the implant tooth number on the left side firstly, and the tooth will turn blue. Next, select the scan body from the database. Click “Match”, and the corresponding tooth will turn into a hollow circle. After the selection of all teeth, users can click “Confirm” to end the match. Subsequently, the scan body data will be prepared on the right side.
STEP 5: Install scan bodies
Prepare and install the scan bodies.
Tips: Preparation before scanning
- Clean the surface of scan bodies.
- Turn the surface with features to the lingual side or buccal side to ease the capture the features.
- Expose the scan body completely.
Tips: Install continuous multiple scan bodies
If it is necessary to scan continuous multiple scan bodies, install them with divided groups and conduct several scans. Please install several scan bodies in a certain interval to ease the scan.
STEP 6: Scan and align
Scan from the interproximal teeth to the scan body area. When the camera captures the features of the scan body, the prepared scan body data can be dynamically aligned. Users can stop the scan immediately once the dynamic alignment has been completed.
If there is multiple scan bodies to scan, switch the tooth number in the upper right corner and scan the corresponding scan bodies.
Tips: Scan multiple scan bodies
Do not scan all scan bodies in a single tooth number. If not, the prepared scan body data will be only aligned with the latest scan data.
If the space between scan bodies is very close, you can click “add group” to add a new group of scan body and lock the previous scan data after scanning a group of scan bodies. It is also required to switch the tooth number in the new group.
Tips: Why there is a mismatch of the prepared data?
When there is a mismatch, users can apply the manual alignment to align the model by picking 3 points from the scan data and the prepared data.
Please follow the instructions for installation and expose more features of scan bodies.
Do not stretch the scan body into the tip, which can cause a lift of the prepared data.
STEP 7: Scan the antagonist jaw
STEP 8: Scan the bite
Remove all scan bodies and collect the bite data normally.
STEP 9: Check the result
Check the final result in the preview stage. The scan body areas’ data has been improved by prepared data, which can provide more detailed information for designers.
STEP 10: Send
Please refer to the previous article: Send.
