Overview
The high accuracy coded scan body is performed at the level of multi-unit abutments (MUA). In the coded scan body kit, we provided a torque wrench and screwdrivers to assist users in installing the coded scan bodies more efficiently. Users need to correctly install the coded scan bodies in the oral environment to smoothen the scan process and ensure the clarity and correctness of the scan data. This article mainly introduces the approaches and strategies of coded scan body placement.
How to place coded scan bodies?
STEP 1: Confirm the MUA positions
Users need to confirm the MUA positions in the patient’s oral environment in advance and select the coded scan bodies with appropriate lengths.
STEP 2: Confirm the status of coded scan bodies
It is vital to check the scan body surface for contamination from blood or damage caused by improper cleaning or sterilization procedures.
STEP 3: Primary installation of coded scan bodies
- First, users should tighten the coded scan bodies with a screwdriver by free hand. Just ensure the scan bodies cannot move naturally. In this stage, the tongue should be kept away from the scan bodies.
- In the installation, together their tail ends in the same direction to form the shape of a fan. This installation strategy is to create a union of the scan bodies and ease the transiation.
- If the space of the oral environment is limited, users can install some coded scan bodies along with the residue ridge.
- The gap among the coded scan bodies should be appropriate. If it is distant, the transition of the scan will be difficult. If it is closed and causes overlaps, the recognition of coded scan bodies will fail.
STEP 4: Tighten the coded scan bodies
After confirming the positions and gaps of coded scan bodies, users can tighten the scan bodies with a torque wrench and a screwdriver.
- When using the manual torque wrench, users should ensure the force for tightening should be in the range of 10-15N•cm.
- Overtightening the coded scan body may lead to damage to patients and the screw fracture.
- When using an electric wrench, users should ensure the rotation speed does not exceed 30 rpm.
STEP 5: Verification
It is recommended to verify the coded scan body seating using radiographic imaging. Radiographically, you will check that the coded scan bodies are flush with the multi-unit abutment.
