Shining 3D Cresplint 2.0 Digital Workflow

Overview

Splints and retainers are essential orthodontic tools. Cresplint 2.0 offers a more efficient and precise design workflow, integrating the oral scanner, facial scanner, and printer, which streamlines both design and production processes. With the comprehensive capabilities of Shining 3D devices, the products can fully meet patients' individualized needs.

Workflow Introduction

Schematic 1 introduces the whole digital workflow of splints. First, the oral data was obtained by the Aoralscan and then transferred to the Metismile to align with the facial data. Next, the optimized jaw relationship would be adjusted by Metismile. Subsequently, the adjusted data can be applied to the design of Cresplint 2.0. With the collaboration of AccuFab printers and specialized resin, a splint would be successfully produced.

Compared with traditional workflow (schematic 2), the digital workflow have several advantages:

1. Semi-automatic design to reduce nearly 30% workload;
2. Less and much simpler labor will be required; 
3. Do not rely on the experience of designers;
4. Save materials and less waste

Schematic 3 describes the digital workflow of retainers. The oral data obatined by Aoralscan will be directly applied to designing retainers in CreSplint. The printable files will be imported in AccuFab printers. With printing and post-processing, the retainers can be tried on.

The traditional thermoforming retainer has a relatively higher requirement for post-processing. Hence, the wearing comfort is determined by the technician skills. Compared with that, the digital workflow has the following merits: 

1. High stabilization, accuracy and efficiency;
2. Simple post-processing;
3. Batch production;
4. Standardize with data
