Clean LED Panel

The guidelines apply to the maintenance of the AccuFab-L4D and L4K printers.

Overview

To maintain the LED light panel, inspect the surface of the LED lens for dust, resin, or contamination using a flashlight or cellphone light. If dust, resin, or contamination is observed, follow the guidelines provided by Shining 3D to clean the surface of the LED lens.

Before performing maintenance

Preparing the workspace

Prepare the AccuFab-L4D and a dust-free workspace for cleaning the LED panel. Prepare additional space for storing the rear panel of the printer during maintenance.

Unplug the printer

Before performing maintenance, please turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable from the printer. Do not perform maintenance on the printer while the printer is connected to power.

Performing maintenance on the printer while it is plugged in increases the risk of electric shock. Never remove the rear shell of the printer while it is plugged in. Never reconnect the printer to power while the rear shell is uninstalled.

Removing the rear shell

The removal of the rear cover requires the use of two different models of HEX key wrenches.

STEP 1: REMOVE THE REAR SHELL SCREWS (Upper)

Use a 3mm Hex Key Allen Wrench to loosen and remove the two screws located at the upper part of the rear shell. Set the screws aside.

STEP 2: REMOVE THE REAR SHELL SCREWS (Lower)

Use a 2.5mm Hex Key Allen Wrench to loosen and remove the two screws located at the upper part of the rear shell. Set the screws aside.

STEP 3: REMOVE THE REAR SHELL

Pull the rear shell directly away from the printer to remove it. Set the rear shell aside.

Inspecting the LED panel

Inspect the optical window for dust, fingerprints, or cured resin. Always wear clean gloves when handling led lens surface to avoid contamination.

Inspecting the LED lens

Shine a secondary light source (for example, a cell phone light) onto the LED panel to reveal any hidden contamination on the glass surface.

Based on the inspection of the lens surface contamination, decide on the next cleaning steps for the cleaning process.

Removing dust

Remove dust and other loose contaminants, which can interfere with the LEDs.

Use a lint-free cloth to remove any dust from the LED lens surface. Wipe slowly, pulling the cloth toward you, repeating until you have cleaned the entire lens surface.

Cleaning resin

If there is any resin on the surface of the lens, remove the LED panel from the printer and clean lens surface with a wet wipe.

STEP 1: REMOVE THE LED PANEL

Before cleaning, follow the REMOVE THE LED PANEL instructions to remove the LED panel. This step requires an LED panel replacement tool to loosen and remove the screws securing the LED panel. Please contact the reseller to obtain this tool.

STEP 2: CLEAN THE CONTAMINATION

Wet wipe only if necessary after removing dust.

  • Apply a small amount of clean IPA to a wiping paper.
  • Wipe the surface of the lens to remove contamination or resin.
  • Apply only enough pressure to remove the resin. Do not scrub or scratch the LED lens.

STEP 3: REINSTALL THE LED PANEL

Check REINSTALL THE LED PANEL for more details.

If resin is difficult to remove, contact Shining 3D dental Support by submitting a ticket or your authorized reseller. When requesting help, please provide photos of the led panel illuminated by a secondary light source and a list of attempted cleaning steps.

Reinstalling the shell

Place the rear shell back onto the printer. Press it towards the front of the printer to ensure that it fully seats in place. There should be no gaps between the rear shell and the side or bottom shells. Tighten the screws to secure the rear shell.
